Congratulations to 2013 Slippery Rock Scuba Class

sr_2013

The Scuba Shop congratulates 9 new divers from Slippery rock in completing their open water training. Conditions above and below water were excellent on May 20-21 when the students’ semester-long classroom and pool training culminated in them earning their open water certifications. Also, many thanks to the divemasters in helping to facilitate a fun and informative two days.

To those newly certified, and also those who may have drifted away from diving, The Scuba Shop dives every weekend and on many weekdays. We are always interested in and happy to have new divers join us! Contact the shop for more information, or check our Facebook page for frequent updates.

Again, congratulations to the new divers!

Feb 23-24 Ice Diving Class, Conditions Permitting

ice2

It looks like temperatures this upcoming week might be good for ice formation at the quarry. As such, we are planning to offer another ice diving class this upcoming weekend, February 23-24. Advanced Open Water is the prerequisite, and the investment is $199.

Contact the shop for more details. If you are already certified in Ice Diving, we would love to have you join us for a few dives.

We will keep everyone posted on the ice conditions as we get through the week, so check back often!

Ice Diving Class a Success!

Congratulations to our four newly-certified Ice Divers, Chase, Jeff, John, and Rocco. Also thank you to John, Bob, Renee, and Garry for their help.

Ice conditions at the quarry cooperated this past weekend to allow us to conduct an ice diving class on Saturday and Sunday. Ice thickness was between 4 and 6 inches, and the water temperature was a cool 36 degrees. Visibility was 5-7 feet, but this will improve as long as the water stays covered with ice.

Ice conditions permitting, we will continue to make ice dives throughout the winter and plan to hold additional classes and training dives. If you’re not sure that the class is for you, we can offer a “discover Ice Diving” experience. Contact the shop if you’re interested.
